We hope this message finds you well as we begin another successful school year. To ensure safety and in accordance with Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), it is mandatory that a Bus Rider Information Sheet be completed and submitted for each student by Monday, August 25, 2025, to ride the school bus.
Please complete and return the Driver Information Sheet by Monday, August 25, 2025.
Forms can be submitted to the bus driver.
Until the form is received, after Monday, August 25, 2025, your student will not be allowed to ride the bus. This policy is in place to ensure we have accurate emergency contact details and transportation plans for every student.
If you need another copy of the form, please contact the bus driver.

Homecoming Activities 2025
Semmes Middle School 2025 Homecoming Football game is scheduled for September 18, 2025, at 6:00 pm in the MGM Football Stadium. Tickets must be purchased for the game on GoFan.com or at the gate. Ticket cost is $7.00.
Semmes Middle School 2025 Homecoming Dance is scheduled for September 19, 2025. Tickets are $20 each and NO refunds will be issued for any reason. Concessions will be sold separately.
7th Grade: 5:30pm-7:00pm
8th Grade: 7: 30pm-9:00pm
Attire:
Girls- Semi-formal dress, modest length. No mid-drift, no strapless, no two pieces.
Boys- Must be a shirt with a collar and dress pants. No jeans or hats. Sports coat optional.

Nomination voting will take place on September 2, 2025, during Enrichment.
Must have a “C” average for all classes based on a report run on September 2, 2025.
No retract or suspensions for the current school year or suspensions from last year; the candidate must also display behavior appropriate for a school representative.

Attention 6th Grade Parents!
The 6th Grade Back to School Dance will be September 5th after school from 2:30pm-4:00pm. Tickets will be sold for $10 on September 2nd-4th, during 6th grade lunch waves. School uniform and SMS ID badge will be required to enter the dance. Snacks and drinks sold separately at the dance.
Basketball Tryouts for boys and girls will be held on September 12th from 2:30-5:00. This includes 7th and 8th grade students. Students must have an updated physical to participate in tryouts.
Fall Sports are here! Come out and support your SMS fall sports tonight that the Community Pep Rally. Football kicks off on Thursday, August 21st, and Volleyball on August 25th! Check out the schedules to come out and support your SMS BULLDOGS!
Semmes Middle School Open House is set for August 26,2025. Title I Patent Meeting at 5:30, then classroom visits from 6:00-7:00. See you there!

Hello, my name is Bryanna Barber. I have two beautiful daughters that keep me on my toes. I was born and raised here in Semmes, AL and I am a former SMS Bulldog. I graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi. This will be my fourth full year teaching mathematics. I am very excited and thankful to be the new 6th grade math teacher this year. Take-in begins at 6:45 AM. Our doors will open at 6:45 AM and our tardy bell rings at 7:05. Please arrive early enough for students to be in class on time. Teachers & Staff will be assisting all students to ensure they know where to go.

Schedules: Students will receive a NEW copy of their schedule in homeroom Monday morning and will follow this schedule.
Car riders can be dropped off starting at 6:45 AM. There will be no adult supervision before 6:45 AM.
Dismissal is at 2:05. Students must know how they are getting home. Please go to our website https://www.smsbulldogs.com/ and click on BUS ROUTES if you need help with bus information.
All car riders MUST be picked up by 2:45 PM. Please make sure to pick up your child on time.

* No Airpods/Headphones.

All students upon entry into the building will go through security each morning. Again, no three ring binders allowed.
